Organized by Top Speed Shanghai Ltd., Formula Masters Series (FMS) is the region’s premier international junior single-seater series. Launched in 2011, FMS is a proven platform on which to develop future motorsport stars.
FMS sets the benchmark in the region and helps develop drivers to race in the prestigious GT championships as well as respected international open-wheel series such as the GP3 Series and the FIA Formula 3 Championship. Paving the way for young drivers in the Asian motorsport scene, FMS provides an affordable and equitable stage on which to nurture fledgling talent, ensuring skill and not financial advantage dictate success on the race track.


FMS is a one-make series using a state-of-the-art Formula car providing both performance and safety. With a Tatuus FA010 Carbon composite monocoque, FIA F3 homologated chassis and a 2.0 Formula engine providing 180 HP, the FMS race car is both competitive and cost-efficient.


Race weekend format

Thursday or Friday Pre event testing: up to 120 min

Friday Free practice session 1: 30 min

Qualifying 1: 15 minutes (grid for race 1)

Qualifying 2: 15 minutes (grid for race 3)

Saturday Race 1: 25 minutes (fastest lap grid for race 2)

Saturday Race 2: 15 minutes

Sunday Race 3: 25 minutes

At selected rounds a 4th race will be added.

FMS Officials
  • MATTHIJS HOITINK – SERIES MANAGER

    Single seater expert Matthijs Hoitink brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to FMCS. Based in Asia for almost a decade, Hoitink has been involved in managing various successful single seater championships such as Formula BMW Asia, Formula V6 Asia, Formula 2.0 and Formula Pilota China Series. He also brings with him experience garnered from his previous position as team manager for Petronas Mofaz Racing as well as managing the Petronas Formula Xperience

    program.Matthijs has a Bachelors degree in automotive engineering as well as an MBA from Nottingham University.As series manager, Hoitink is responsible for team and driver liaison and communication as well as the overall implementation of the regulations and general management of the entire series.

  • ALLEN BAE – TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

    Technical Director Allan Bae is from Korea and majored in Automotive Engineering at the University of Ulsan (Korea). Bae has studied in Japan and worked in many technical functions in motorsport. This, combined with his sheer passion for automotive engineering and hands-on experience, has given him an in-depth understanding of almost any system on any car.Bae has been involved with the concept creation and

    development of the FMCS car in cooperation with VW Motorsport, which makes him the most knowledgeable individual about the FMCS car in the paddock. As Technical Director, Bae is responsible for the ongoing development of the FMCS car as well as to assist the teams on any technical matters.

  • TREVOR JOHNSON – TECHNICAL DELEGATE

    Motorsport veteran Trevor Johnson is one of the most respected and experienced technical delegates in Motorsport. Johnson has been involved as scrutineer or technical delegate in many high profile racing series such as British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), A1GP, Formula BMW championships as well as Formula Pilota China Series.As technical delegate, Johnson is

    responsible for the eligibility and safety of all FMCS cars, ensuring that all cars comply with the technical regulations to guarantee a level playing field at reasonable budgets for all participating teams and drivers.

  • RAVIN – RACE DIRECTOR

    Ravin has more than 30 years’ motorsport experience and since 2008 has been Race Director for a number of championships including the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, the GT Asia Series, Formula Middle East, the Thailand Supercar Series and the Asian Touring Car Series. His expertise across numerous disciplines, from karting and motorcross to rallying and circuit racing, has given him vast international experience in countries from France and the United Kingdom to China, Indonesia and India.

    M.Ravin has worked at some of the world’s premier events, including the support races at Formula 1 Grands Prix, the FIA World Touring Car Championship, Super GT,Formula Nippon and A1 Grands Prix.As Race Director, M. Ravin is responsible for managing the operations of all on-track Activity
